Castor & Pollux Candlesticks
Salvador Dalí (1904–1989, Spanish)
Castor: 11 7/8 x 7 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches, Pollux: 10 3/8 x 7 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches
Salvador Dalí is best known for his surreal paintings like Persistence of Memory, which features melting clocks. A different kind of melting (that of candle wax) is associated with the chrome plated bronze candlesticks Castor and Pollux, named for twin brothers of Greek myth. The candlesticks are in a modern cubist style and are signed by Dalí.
