David Mazza was born in 1979 in Denver, Colorado. He credits sculptor Erick C. Johnson as a strong influence on his art career, beginning in high school. Mazza received a BFA from the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in 2002 where he was taught again by Erick C. Johnson and by Colorado artists Ania Gola-Kumor and Chuck Parson. In 2004, Mazza was named Top Sculptor by the Rocky Mountain News, and Best Emerging Sculptor by Westword. He has worked with the planning and placement of sculpture for Extreme Makeover Home Edition in Arvada, the Parade of Homes in Castle Rock and several private collectors throughout Denver. In 2007 Mazza’s public work at Aurora’s Fire Station #5 earned the title “best new public art in the suburbs” by Westword. Mazza’s sculptures have been featured in many group exhibitions and he continues to produce sculptural work in Colorado.
