17 x 13 x 11 inches

Carroll Hansen was born in Denver, Colorado in 1936. He studied architecture at the University of Illinois from 1955 to 1958 and worked for several architectural firms. After realizing it was not the career for him, he enrolled at the University of Northern Colorado where he received his BA in chemistry with a minor in art in 1962. He started a graduate program at the University of California, Berkley in bronze casting and there learned of renowned ceramist Peter Voulkos. Best known for his abstract ceramic sculpture, Hansen has also worked in bronze sculpture, polyester resin sculpture, drawing and painting. His work has been shown in many national galleries and at the University of Maine, the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma and the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art in Biloxi, Mississippi. Hansen continues to produce slabbed ceramic works in Arvada, Colorado.
