Volunteer at Kirkland Museum

Kirkland Museum does not have any volunteer or internship opportunities available currently. We will update this page as positions open. Please contact Megan Sullivan, Coordinator of Volunteers, with any questions.

Volunteer in a museum surrounded by great art, great design and great people.

Gallery Attendants:

Develop knowledge about the collection to provide visitors with an introduction to the museum and information about our collections. Help support the staff to maintain the safety and security of the visitors and the collection. Tuesday-Sundays 11am - 3pm.

Docents:

Experienced gallery attendants may be offered the opportunity to increase their training to become a docent. Docents lead tours of the collection and are given training in decorative art, Colorado art, as well as an in depth study of Vance Kirkland. Contact the Coordinator of Volunteers for more information about this position.

Staff Aides:

Kirkland Museum operates with a small staff, so volunteers have the opportunity to wear many hats in assisting staff in museum operations including tasks such as answering phones, data entry, and preparing mailings. Volunteers commit to weekly or biweekly shifts.

Special Events:

Support the museum staff by assisting with set up and clean up, welcoming guests, and serving food. Occasional evenings.

Internships:

Interns play a valuable role in furthering the work of Kirkland Museum while providing educational and career growth opportunities to students. Available internships will be posted on this page. If there are no current opportunities posted, email a cover letter and resume to Megan Sullivan, Coordinator of Volunteers (msullivan@kirklandmuseum.org). We will notify you of any future opportunities. Resumes will be kept on file for a period of one year.

All applicants must complete an interview and criminal background check.

All volunteers receive discounts in the museum store and opportunities for further training and advancement.
