Visitor Services/Museum Support: Kirkland Museum operates with a small staff, so volunteers have the opportunity to wear many hats in assisting in museum operations. Visitor services/museum support volunteers enjoy a variety of responsibilities including greeting visitors, accepting admissions, gift shop sales, answering phones, data entry, preparing mailings, and keeping public spaces and break areas attractive and tidy. Volunteers commit to four hour shifts, weekly or biweekly.
Special Events: Volunteers are needed for a few hours, approximately quarterly, for preparation, hosting and clean-up for member and public events at the museum and off-site venues. Help is always needed for pouring drinks, filling food trays, greeting visitors, and assisting staff to set up tables and wash dishes.
Docent training for tour guides and gallery attendants is available to volunteers who have worked at Kirkland Museum for three months or more. Training covers topics in Colorado art history, American art pottery and industrial design.
All applicants must complete an interview, criminal background check and credit check.
All volunteers receive discounts in the museum store and opportunities for further training and advancement. Please speak to the manager of volunteer services for more details about these positions.
