Born in Edmore, North Dakota, Frank Sampson received his MFA from the University of Iowa in 1952. Sampson spent some time traveling abroad, particularly in Belgium, and his paintings are influenced by an old world European style. He is Professor Emeritus of Fine Arts, at the University of Colorado, Boulder where he taught from 1961 until his retirement in 1990. Sampson has exhibited his work widely, both in the United States and abroad.
