Ken Goehring was born in Evansville, Wisconsin on January 8, 1919 and moved to Detroit, Michigan as a child. After serving in World War II for four years, Goehring received his initial art training at the Meinzinger School of Applied Art in Detroit. After teaching there for a year, he moved with his wife to Colorado and studied at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center from 1948 to 1950 with mentors Jean Charlot and Emerson Woelffer. Goehring remained in Colorado Springs for 59 years, becoming a highly regarded abstract expressionist. He taught for one year at the University of Denver in 1957. Goehring’s paintings have appeared in over 100 exhibitions in 17 states, including 17 one-person shows.
