Homare Ikeda was born on the island of Yoron, near Okinawa, Japan. In 1978 he moved to the United States and attended San Joaquin Delta College in California from 1978 to 1981. He then moved to Colorado and earned his BFA (1985) and MFA in painting (1987) at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Ikeda has taught painting and other art courses at numerous institutions in Colorado including the Art Students League in Denver, Regis University, University of Colorado and Metropolitan State College. He has shown his work in many solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Germany, Japan and Denmark.
