Margaret Mullin was born in New Rochelle, New York. She attended Cooper Union and later taught at the Traphagen School of Fashion. Mullin was married to artist Joseph Meert, a good friend of Colorado artist Charles Bunnell. Meert and Mullin had a home and studio in New York City at Astor Place with a view of Cooper Union out their window. Both were close friends with Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner and according to accounts, Mullin first introduced the couple. Meert painted in Colorado and had shows at both the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and the Denver Art Museum, but little is known about Mullin’s life and connections to the state.
