“Good design is for everyone” is a mantra industrial designer Russel Wright lived by. He designed everything from furniture, fabrics, ceramics and metalware to glassware and even radios. Wright created a series of informal modular furniture designs made of maple for Conant Ball in 1935 that sold at big department stores like Macy’s. The rounded bentwood frames and comfortable soft cushion speaks to the “unique informality of modern American living” that Wright supported in all of his designs.
