Emilio Lobato was born in rural San Pablo, Colorado in the San Luis Valley in 1959. He attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, where he received his BA in studio art in 1982. While there he studied under and was influenced by Colorado abstract artist Mary Chenoweth. Lobato worked at the Denver Art Museum for three years in the late 1980s before deciding to devote himself entirely to his art. Lobato’s work is primarily a combination of painting and collage. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions and his work can be found in galleries, private and corporate collections and in museums. He resides in Denver.
