Tracy Felix is a Colorado native, born in the San Luis Valley in 1957. He was drawn to art at an early age and is self-taught. As a young artist, Felix worked at Bill Burgess’s frame shop in Colorado Springs, where he grew fascinated by Colorado art and developed a penchant for collecting. Felix paints stylized and exaggerated mountain landscapes with dramatic clouds. He is inspired by the unique geology of the West and the influence of American Regionalism and Hudson River School painters. Tracy Felix is married to Colorado artist Sushe Felix and exhibits his works widely at galleries and museums. The frame on this painting was crafted and painted by the artist.
