The Schneider brothers of Schneider Glassworks worked for Daum in the early 1900s, one of the most prestigious glassworks in Europe. Ernest Schneider was a salesmen and Charles Schneider was a designer. They left Daum in 1912 and opened their own glass company in 1913. Ernest’s skills in business and marketing with Charles’ brilliance as a designer proved to be a successful partnership. Charles Schneider was known for his designs with the wrought iron mounts you see in Kirkland Museum’s example, among other intricate glassworks. Unfortunately The Great Depression, changing fashions and the death of Ernest proved to be too much for the company and they closed in 1939.
