Self-Guided Group Requests

  • In order to properly accommodate self-guided groups of 10 or more, the Museum encourages that reservations be made at least 10 business days in advance.
  • Prepayment is required to receive the discounted group admission rate and is due prior to the arrival of the group. Tickets are non-refundable. If participants are added later, prepayment for those individuals is encouraged to ensure a smooth arrival and check-in process.
  • Group reservations are available during public Museum hours (Wednesday-Saturday 11am-5pm, Sundays 12-5pm). We suggest allotting at least 90 minutes for your visit. Please check the Plan Your Visit page for the most up-to-date hours, including holiday closures.
  • Due to the fragile nature of the collection and intimate size of the galleries, self-guided groups are limited to 25 adults at a time and will need to split up while exploring the galleries.  Adult groups of more than 25 may be accommodated depending on circumstances and flexibility to stagger arrival times. For school and college groups, please see details below for group sizes.
  • Teachers, chaperones and group leaders/organizers for self-guided group visits may receive complimentary admission upon request. See additional details under College Groups and School Groups for complimentary admission details.

Self-Guided College Groups (ages 18+)

  • Due to the fragile nature of the collection and intimate size of the galleries, college groups are limited to 25 students at a time. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis. Students will need to split up to explore the galleries safely and comfortably.
  • Prepayment is required to make a college group reservation. Payment is due upon receipt of invoice, prior to the arrival of the group. Tickets are non-refundable. If additional students are added to the group later, we encourage prepayment be made prior to your visit to ensure smooth check-in.
  • The group leader/professor will receive complimentary admission.
  • Classes are invited to watch a brief introductory video upon arrival to introduce students to the Museum and its collections.

Self-Guided School Groups (ages 13-18)

  • Due to the fragile nature of the collection and intimate size of the galleries, high school groups are limited 20 students at a time. Middle school groups are limited to 15 students at a time. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.
  • The teacher plus two additional adult chaperones may receive complimentary admission.
  • Groups of 10-14 students must have at least 2 adult chaperones; groups of 15-20 students must have 3 adult chaperones. Students must be in the presence of and supervised by an adult chaperone at all times and cannot wander freely in the galleries.
  • Under no circumstances may students touch the collections, have food or drink in the galleries, exhibit horseplay or otherwise inappropriate behavior that may put themselves or the collection at risk. It is critical for the chaperones to be prepared to enforce these rules and to maintain a physical presence with students for the duration of the visit.
  • Prepayment is required to make a school group reservation. Payment is due upon receipt of invoice, prior to the arrival of the group. Tickets are non-refundable. If additional students are added to the group later, we encourage prepayment be made prior to your visit to ensure smooth check-in.
  • Classes are invited to watch a brief introductory video upon arrival to introduce students to the Museum and its collections.

Private Guided Tour Requests

  • Groups may request a Private Guided Tour during public Museum hours (Wednesday-Saturday 11am to 5pm, Sunday 12 to 5pm) with advance notice. We suggest allotting at least 90 minutes for your visit, which includes the tour and some time to explore independently. Weekend tours will incur a $50 additional surcharge.
  • Tours booked by a current Kirkland Museum member receive a 10% discount.
  • Tours are limited to 15 people to navigate through our galleries safely and comfortably as a group. Larger groups will require multiple docents and may be accommodated depending on the ability to stagger start times.

  • The group leader/organizer does not receive complimentary admission for Private Guided Tours.
