Michael Clapper was born in 1952 in Akron, Ohio. He started his education at the Wendell Castle School in Rochester, New York, making furniture and earning his degree in 1987. He has focused on creating public art and residential sculpture nationally and locally. Clapper has been featured in multiple one-person gallery exhibitions. He has taught at Metropolitan State College of Denver in both the art and industrial design programs. Clapper is the recipient of many awards, including the Sam Maloof Grant from Anderson Ranch Art Center outside of Aspen, Colorado.
