Barbara Locketz was born in Illinois in 1927. She received her BS from the University of Minnesota and her MA from the University of Denver (DU) and then taught at DU from 1964 to 1971. Due to her close ties with DU, Locketz knew Vance Kirkland and was his student, friend and coworker. Her experimentation with materials, from her early traditional paintings through her use of paper, fabric, wood, metal and finally acrylic in collages, sculptures and jewelry created a unique body of work. Her work has been exhibited throughout Colorado and the American Southwest, New York and Mexico. This sculpture rotates in its stem base.
