Koloman Moser, a founder of the Wiener Werkstätte (Viennese Workshops), taught ceramics at the School of Applied Arts in Vienna. His students would execute his designs, as Jutta Sika did with this creamer. Ceramics with the mark Schule Prof. Kolo Moser (School of Professor Moser) became renowned for their quality and innovative design. Along with four female and five male classmates from the School of Applied Arts in Vienna, Sika founded the group the Wiener Kunst im Hause (Viennese Art in Home) which is thought to be a precursor to the Wiener Werkstätte (Viennese Workshops) and focused on creating unified works for the home. This creamer is part of a matching coffee set. At the turn of the 20th century, Schule Moser’s designs were composed of pure geometric forms, like the triangular handles on this creamer and their circular perforations.
